I prefer Ms. or Doc, or just The/Da Bolt, for those not comfortable with Julie/Juls. Not as fond of the other options, though many of my sweet students at Bronx seem most comfortable with Mam or Miss. I had thought that was do to their unusual politeness, not my Formerly status. Sigh. Anyway, thanks for the unfortunate, but necessary, reminder of the annual mammogram! Another great blog!

I was 23, premenstrual, greasy haired tied back in a keep it out of my way pony-tail, and running into the convenience store for chocolate. And the clerk ma'amed me. I'm pretty surprised I didn't take him out. On the other hand, I had chocolate in my hand and I would have had to put the chocolate down. And I think "young man" makes you a formerly, but "NICE young man" makes you a formerly plus. Oh, god, the pain.
