I’m 50 and living proof women get lustier as we get older. I can’t presume to speak for anyone but myself, but sex is just so much better now - no kids around, no worries about whether “he’s the one” or how to keep him, or whether he thinks I’m fat, or who’s chasing him or any of that crap that’s all just designed to get us to reproduce anyway. Now I just enjoy myself and my partner.

Thanks for your analysis, Stephanie. I got so caught up in the stupidity of the “older women like sex, but no one knows why, since it’s probably not for procreation” thesis, I pretty much missed the aging down of cougarism. I agree that the headline is vomitous. Ladies like the sex. Must we rehash tired stereotypes to deal with that fact?

Maybe these older men are trying to understand why these younger women are no longer interested in them? I mean maybe you have to be over 25 to see that a man who is balding, has computer belly, soft biceps, and more and more body hair is actually sexy? Or maybe as the over 25 set of women looks better and better they are less willing to “appreciate” the softness of men in their peer group or older?
