Oh, come on! You make it sound as if you are in both in your seventies. This post reminds me of that Simon and Garfunkel song with the lyric about how strange it is to be in your seventies. You're not that old.

I think my increased calm and centeredness is not because life has kicked me around but because it hasn't -- how lucky we are to lead lives that allow us so much time and space for spiritual development. We ARE harbingers of the evolution of mankind: freed from SOME material concerns in this rich land, we can focus on what matters.

Nice having the time and space to spend quality time with you!

How many times I was told, during the worst agonies of my life (zits, boys, no boobs, NO PROM DATE) that "These are the best years of your life." Shiver me timbers! What a curse! I make sure to tell all of my nieces and nephews (yes, I am that kind of aunt - fun and cool but weird) that it does nothing but get better.

THANK GOD for women like ALL of us NOW!! for SO MANY generations we had been sold and we readily bought that bill of goods about ONLY men getting "better" and "more distinguished" while women were only accepted if we tried to be everything we FORMERLY were...for Dear Life. we know better now. maybe we finally have something Real to hand our daughters and sons via our examples that will be a path they can follow? their very own.

and, btw, isn't it funny how Whole Foods represents everything we hold Dear and Aspire to as our BEST SELVES - FOR-the-Earth and FOR-each-other - whilst we also detest everything else it represents, Elitism and Consumerism?
